On 4/20/25 at about 300pm this office was requested by the Geneva Police Department in securing a dog that was found wandering on the road and sidewalk in the area of Hamilton and Monroe Streets. Upon arrival the dog, an approximate 10-year-old female Pit-Bull, named Queen was located and secured. Upon examination she was found to have a large tumor in between her legs that interferes when she walks. The owner was identified, Ms. Johnson, she was contacted several times and refused to redeem Queen. Queen was examined by a local veterinarian utilized by this office and this tumor was found to be benign. On 6/5/25 at about 1130am Ms. Washington was arrested and charged with Animal Abandonment. She was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Geneva City Court and released. Ms. Washington relinquished ownership of Queen to this office and plans are being made to remove her tumor. She will then be placed up for adoption.
