IMPORTANT ADOPTION UPDATE: With federal social-distancing guidelines being extended to April 30, our shelter will remain closed to the public. Social distancing is critical to help control the spread of the virus. As we've said many times before, the health and safety of our staff and the animals in our care remains our top priority. However, finding the animals in our care a forever home as soon as possible is also a top priority. It's our mission.
In navigating this complex situation, we realize it will be several more weeks until we're able to resume our normal business hours and operations. However, we want the dogs and cats in our care to be in the right homes as soon as possible. We love these animals like our own. Which is why, after much consideration and several discussions, we've decided to coordinate a virtual adoption program. We see many animal shelters across the region – and country – doing the same and animals are able to find their right forever homes virtually.
So let's give it a go! Here's how you can foster or adopt through Happy Tails Animal Shelter virtual adoption:
1. Please go to adoption overview and download the application and email it to email@example.com. The application does not commit you to an adoption, but acts as a place holder to meet a prospective pet.
2. After reviewing your application, we will set up a time for a virtual "Meet and Greet" with the animal.
3. When you arrive at Happy Tails to bring your new pet home, social distancing and COVID-19 health best practices will be implemented.
Please note: We're in the process of updating our website, including photos of our adoptable animals. Until the update is complete, we will be sharing photos and information on Facebook. Every other Friday, our adoption coordinator will host a Facebook live to introduce you to our adoptable animals. Please tune in if you'd like to meet them and start the virtual adoption process!
Thank you for your support throughout these times and please know, the animals in our care are receiving the top care and love, as they always do. We hope you'll consider opening your heart and your home to them.
